my favourite bit in Pilgrim (my old software) was the node-based live compositing bits where you just had a bunch of video inputs and outputs and operators you could build these immensely detailed processing graphs.. split the signal, lumakey just the highlight of that, drop some glow processing on it, merge it back with the original, blend one of the texture channels over it and animate any of the parameters with conditional functions or link them to midi controls. it was awesome... alas also quite crashy due to its compelxity (and takey-your-project-with-it-ey).
