my favourite bit in Pilgrim (my old software) was the node-based live compositing bits where you just had a bunch of video inputs and outputs and operators you could build these immensely detailed processing graphs.. split the signal, lumakey just the highlight of that, drop some glow processing on it, merge it back with the original, blend one of the texture channels over it and animate any of the parameters with conditional functions or link them to midi controls. it was awesome... alas also quite crashy due to its compelxity (and takey-your-project-with-it-ey).

oh ow the procedural 3d stuff in it looks kinda amazebals tho: https://derivative.ca/feature/realtime-3d-and-compositing/71

found it! "touch designer" by derivative Inc...tho looking at it that might be a wee bit overkill, and Very pricey.

would still be interested in alternatives tho as presumably stuff has changed in the kast decade...

ooh there was something i always meant to learn and then the ass fell out of the work and I ended up not. from the houdini guys iirc... 🤔

ive been out of the loop on visuals software for a while. does anyone know if there is such a thing as a visual synth? like where you start with with "primitives" like oscillations and whatnot which you then modulate and blend and apply transformations, ideally thru the twiddling of midi knobs, maybe with a node graph if we're lucky?

my old vis software was not a million miles off that but it was more "2d/3d sample based"  than "synthesis".

ill probably end up with my orig software but it was kinda twitchy.

me: [thinking thru how to deal with this unmanageably long audio production]

my brain: hey you know what, we should add video!

I'm currently the only one of 3 disabled trans people in my household who can work, but 16 months of being bedridden and chronic migraines have left us very broke, and we're helping my sister move cross-country now. If you can send a few dollars, that'd be very appreciated!

dont believe the hype. the "singularity" is just when you're permanently getting app updates forever.  windows' only function will be to download updates and reboot constantly TO KEEP YOU SAFE

it does set unrealistic expectations for irl tho. like if i visit CERN i expect the lead tech to be in tight pvc or a fursuit

i love how on fedi ppl are like:
[very serious and high level particle physics/engineering/coding/linguistics conversation]

and then casually dropped in (often the same tl) is
"oh and here's me bound in latex getting railed by 8 femboys and a furry"

and everyone doesn't even miss a beat  is totally fine with it 😂🥰

the normies would absolutely flip their shit. theyre literally trying to legislate it out of existence.

well y'all (and your furries/femboys/whoever) are great and fuck the normies

😍🥰😘

as my first act as first minister of The Independent Republic of Nikistan i will legislate that all clothing must have a minimum number of straps, buckles and chains (unless you have a note)

also i got new glasses bc i finally terminally sat on the ones ive had for the last 35years. RIP westons opticians of watford🪦

i think they're quite cute and slightly "naughty librarian who might be a Domme on the sly".

@nflux 🥵

Let me expand, literally...

I want a smaller phone in the X and Y dimensions, but thicker in the Z dimension, with a battery that can last 2-3 days at least.

Can someone lift me out of the federation hole we seem to be in?

I wanna find more people, go boost me outta here plsss.

@nflux “Too old” is lab-grade bullshit, anyway. Flaunt yourself with pride.

probably too old to be posting pics like this on the internet, but since when did i do what i was told?

also: hormones are fucking magic. 14 years on and they're *still growing*. i actually can't get my hand around one now

are there any good examples of other mega-long "albums". i can think of vynil box-seta where you might get four records in a fancy folding record sleeve or box (queen, a night at the opera?) but kinda drawing a blank beyond that.
