At a local supermarket this morning, I was rather surprised to see an employee in the diary aisle getting help from – what I assume was – their ca. 6-year-old daughter. The child honestly seemed to be having a rather good time, but I'm not sure that social services or labour inspectors would have been taken lightly to such a young person sat on the supermarket floor in leggings and welly boots using a machine to put 30%-off stickers on yogurts...

@ElenLeFoll I can see both sides. It's not ideal, and as you mention probably not allowed, but if it isn't a regular practice and she didn't have anyone else to take care of her daughter, I don't think it's harmful.

@hagedose68 Yes, especially as the child was – at least when I saw her – clearly having a good time with the sticker machine. But I'm very surprised that the manager of the supermarket let this happen. Come to think of it perhaps she is the daughter of the manager?!
