@ElenLeFoll @brembs I haven't been in academia for about eight years now, but the mere mention of the mendeley takeover took me back to my early PhD phase. It's a mix of encouraging and sad that the talk hits nearly all the same points as those that came up during my years in research (the surveillance aspect is new in this context).
One thing I think is missing and might be related to why we're not building infrastructure is that requirements vary quite a lot between fields.
Yes, that last point came up in the Q&A!
@brembs @ElenLeFoll I expect there's an interesting link to interdisciplinary research, but I don't have any personal experience doing it (and I'm not familiar enough with the meta-science literature to say what that might look like in detail).
