"It's a survivor of a pre-human civilization in suspended animation." Jessica let that sink in first. "I hope. It was buried here a long time ago but geologic activity opened a rift down to its chamber. Although we might have to do some spelunking first."
"Caves," Vance muttered, "Always goddamn caves." Jessica grunted in agreement. "But what for? What I mean is, what do you intend to do with it?"
"Talk to it," she shrugged.
"About what?"
"I'm a scientist. What else?"

"So what?" Vance said, "You're going to market it? New technology? Chambers, Incorporated?" Jessica laughed. "What do you really want?"
She sucked on her teeth and exhaled. "To save myself."
"Are you sick?" Vance was taken aback.
"In a way," she said, "The Klaxxi were masters of bio-technology. When this is all over, maybe we can fix that leg, too? As good as new. And I won't have to eat pills and take injections every day just to function like a human being."

Jessica shook her head. "I don't want to talk about it."
"You never do."
"I'm being honest about the creature, at least?"
"Is it dangerous?"
Jessica blinked. "What? No? I can't imagine so. It's dead. Or dreaming, as is often the case. It should be happy to see us? Who knows? We might help it out. Depending on what it's waiting for..." She sipped her coffee. "Although I doubt it likes the cold any more than I do."

Gods, just the thought of one of the power-mad billionaires we have today discovering any misconstrued mythos-type magic or alien science! Like, their presentation of the tech starting with "Seven in ten users will die from brain damage, but the new I-Thoughts mind machine interface will let those surviving 30% to post their imagined memes directly to the internet! @Kalshann Some of the (IMHO) worse modern Mythos stories kind of lean in that direction, yeah, which is one of the reasons I point out how much of this stuff doesn't work if you have a POW of 2 like Elon Musk.

@Kalshann I know it shouldn't be possible to have a POW that low but he strikes me as someone who is barely cognizant most of the time, just a meat bag being dragged around by his own insecurities.

@Kalshann A lot of rich and corporate types are like that, which is why I can't believe they're fronts for cultists or whatever sort-of-commentary on capitalism people want to do with these stories. Peter Thiel is not Nyarlathotep no matter how funny that strikes someone. The Mythos may be incomprehensible but it's also TOO GOOD for the likes of these morons.
