    My favorite thing is going to an urgent care and having them ask me to sign forms on an electronic signature pad where I can’t actually see the forms or where my signature is landing. Like sure, you say it’s the consent to treat, but…

    @mcnado Urgent care? You don't just stitch up your own self using a pair of mirrors and a jug of whiskey?

    @jbayes long story, involving out of state care for a kid. Usually I handle my own, but there was a transportation problem and an open pharmacy problem.

    @mcnado and if you ask for paper the implication is that it will slow your treatment down to a crawl

    @mcnado you could be consenting to being treated in emergency care but after a few days at their convenience..😂

    @mcnado

    When I can't see the screen it's not my vision, it's the all the fingerprint smears. Yuck.

    @mcnado I think my favorite thing was going to a hand specialist office because I had broken some bones in my hand and them giving me a stack of forms and a pen expecting me to fill them all out... with my broken hand.

    I'm not sure what they expected, tbh.

    @mcnado There may be a form stuck somewhere in all the “legitimate” consent forms where you’re giving someone permission to send you marketing emails. One of my providers had something like that in her consent forms. It wasn’t her fault: like many small practices, she depended on an EHR vendor and they put it in there ny default. She didn’t even know until I told her.

    @mcnado never ever receive care where they hand you a tablet! It’s always a third party medical record company and part of where they have you sign allows the medical records company to sell your data. It’s the loophole to get out of medical privacy. People think they are covered by HIPPA, but if you sign authorization to share they can now sell you info to the highest bidder and the docs get a kickback for every person who does it, so they aren’t going to tell you.

    @mcnado The intended audience for most things white, het, ableist and normie is white het abled normies. As in, the folks who are pretty sure they're holding a ticket to be raptured.
