Here's a mystery behavior on VoiceOver on macOS! VO+Space stopped working on anything identified as buttons, pop-up buttons, checkboxes, etc. VO+Space does work normally on anything that does not indicate button, checkbox, or other control. I tried rebootting, resetting all VoiceOver settings from VoiceOver utilities. Could anyone suggest a fix or offer a theory about what might be causing this? I would also appreciate boost. #accessibility #MacOS #VoiceOver @FreakyFwoof @vick21 @ZBennoui

@chikim @FreakyFwoof @vick21 Hm... can't say I've ever run into this. Does using quick nav or the trackpad commander work?

@ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof @vick21 That's a good thing to investigate. This bug is on someone else's computers. I'll suggest and report back. Another weird thing on that macbook is that when you use capslock as vo modifier, it toggles the actual function of capslock with single press. It's supposed to toggle with double presses. Also keyboard help with vo+k doesn't register any letters, symbols, numbers. It just registers modifiers, arrows, return, etc. I can type letters fine on Text Edit. lol

@vick21 @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof vo+space should work regardless quicknav is on off though right? Also it works everywhere except button, checkbox, popup.

@chikim @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof Having said that though, it doesn't check all the checkboxes!

@vick21 @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof It's the strangest thing I've encountered in 16 years I've used VoiceOver. I've seen a lot. lol

@vick21 @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof I did observe because I tried to fix the problem. If I just heard from someone else, I would have not believed it. lol

@vick21 @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof Okay, you guys won’t believe this. Today I confirmed that VO+Space, using either Caps Lock or Control+Option, didn’t work, and neither did Up+Down with Quick Nav on. However, double-tapping with Trackpad Commander on worked. And here comes the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. More in the next post. 1/2

@vick21 @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof The school Wi-Fi kept asking me to accept a certificate, so I checked the date and found it was set to April 1, 1976. I corrected it, and VO+Space immediately started working. Just for kicks, I set another Mac to April 1, 1976, and it had the exact same problem. Changing the date back fixed vo+space again. lol

@FreakyFwoof @vick21 @ZBennoui For fun, you should try setting the date to April 1, 1976 on your Mac. It is the weirdest bug I've ever seen. lol

@chikim @vick21 @ZBennoui Kind of wonder how many other random little things take a crap when you do that.

@chikim @vick21 @ZBennoui Almost have to ask AI to find where that bug comes from and what causes it.

@FreakyFwoof @vick21 @ZBennoui The fun part is vo+space worked fine everywhere else except button, popup, and checkbox as far as I could tell. lol

@chikim @ZBennoui @FreakyFwoof Wow, this is absolutely amazing! Why would the date influence VoiceOver behavior? Perhaps it is programmed to make sure that these keyboard shortcuts do not run before the preset date? Hahahahah!
