@GeriAQuin the robots are doing all of those things. They still need human guidance in several places, but companies are rolling out new robots all of the time.

They all still need human handlers, but we certainly don't have humans with pickaxes doing the mining any more. Offshore oil rigs still have sat divers, but they also depend on the ROVs for deeper work.

Lots of people have built machines to pick plastic garbage out of the ocean. No one is paying to run those machines. Nobody wants the plastic garbage when it's done.

Those fields have been doing robots for a long time.

Only the "PowerPoint and Report-writing" robots are particularly new. And the fact that people are using them to write says a lot more about the nature of those reports than it does about why we're spending trillions trying to solve that problem.

This isn't a pro-AI or anti-AI sentiment. But you can't get to the right answer by asking the wrong question.
