idk man, i just think we can't let the sloppers win and take all our spaces and all our hobbies and all our joy from us. we gotta fight back, and if we have to make our own new communities that ban slop to replace old ones that didn't have the backbone to do it, then that's what we gotta do
and i'm not saying it'll be easy. i'm saying that unless we wanna just lay down and give up and die that's our only choice
"Activist Checklist is 'AI' Slop Fucking Garbage"
From the blurb on the back:
> TL:DR
> Activist Checklist sprang into existence and aggressively pushed themselves on the movement. Their site is AI slop, and their advice is not suitable for radicals, yet radicals keep boosting it. They have dubious ideological alignment in that they are AI advocates and can’t sufficiently critique the dangerous parts of the tech space that activists often end up relying on for infrastructure. Their advice endangers people in subtle ways, and it doesn’t aim to radicalize them. Their website simply should not exist.

Some more highlights:
- not understand how cops do location tracking and therefore not recommending sufficient protections against it
- recommending not-actually-private solutions and apps
- being completely AI-brained and making horrible recommendations, just generally speaking
- using AI for content and translations
- using AI to do SEO including generating manipulative content to pull in users
- trying to seed Wikipedia and other sites with backlinks for SEO
- collecting fucking e-mail addresses during a period of heightened repression
Stop recommending them. Ask people who have recommended them to pull their recommendation. Trash their zines. Flip their tables.
i've replaced the licensing terms for the cute fox no AI splash screen with a clean new license i created myself: https://eniko.itch.io/cute-fox-no-ai-notice
it clarifies the images may not be used for hate speech, and clarifies that 3rd party tools/engines that are ensloppified but don't produce slop themselves don't disqualify you from using them

It is telling that the Proton engineering manifesto states::
"Why has productivity not increased dramatically if everyone is using LLMs all the time already?"
Followed by a number of theories as to what needs to change to improve productivity with LLM use. The most obvious answer is ignored - that LLMs are not dramatically helping productivity and that their direct and indirect costs should be more keenly considered against any gains.
Finally put some of my stuff on @mirlo. refreshing to see how easy it was to set up 4 entire albums for sale, and all the nice bells and whistles

@lproven@vivaldi.net @AAKL@infosec.exchange @matty I've been messing around with it since a bit before it had a real announcement.
alpinebsd has NO llm generated output in the default installation. the extra repos are not enabled by default and are not depended upon by packages in the base and main repos. they are also not officially supported.
As we move into the season of giving, I hope you'll consider finding families in need and doing what you can to help them.
AO3 went offline Oct 29 for what was first called maintenance. About 18 hours later, its operator, the Organization for Transformative Works, said it had detected a security incident. It doesn't currently believe the user database was stolen but can't rule it out. That data may include usernames, emails, IP addresses and hashed passwords, so it advises changing any AO3 password reused elsewhere. Expected downtime is 2 to 4 weeks.
Andy Yen should be removed as Proton's CEO.
Each time I've had beef with something related to Proton, he's been the one driving it.
