New, from me:

Several staffers at the White House are using computers or mobile devices equipped with residential proxy services that render their internet address available for others to rent, security experts warned today. One of the proxy services is a Russian company whose founder’s web hosting business was ground zero for cyberattacks against election systems in Arizona and Illinois in 2016.

A poem:

Roses are red
Texas is blue
MAGA is dead
Hey Nazis, fuck you

Congratulations to the Democrats for the wins.
Now, do something with what you’ve been given. The American people have spoken. Loudly. Respond in kind.

Me: "Are you thinking more Rage Against The Machine, or, like, Woody Guthrie?"

The Trump regime's all-out war on fair elections -- spanning myriad tactic and agencies, often blatantly illegally -- should be a front-and-center preoccupation of every American journalism organization. At best we're getting episodic coverage. ProPublica gets it. https://www.propublica.org/article/trump-midterm-elections-takeover-takeaways

Although trained in physics, I worked in the computing industry with pride and purpose for over 40 years. And now I can do nothing but sit back and watch it destroy itself for no valid reason beyond hubris (if I'm being charitable).

Ineffable sadness watching something I once loved deliberately lose its soul.

Long ago, I was an angry young man who railed against all the injustices of the world, but time has passed, I have matured and learned so much more about things, and now I am an angrier old man.

Good news 🎉 JK Rowling is now represented by a #trans person in the Scottish parliament. Brilliant.

#ICYMI: Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought

Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

“I now am increasingly worried that we may well pass that AMOC shutdown tipping point, where it becomes inevitable, in the middle of this century, which is quite close.”

I reported an insecure DKIM key to Deutsche Telekom / T-Systems. They first asked me to further explain things (not sure why 'Here's your DKIM private key' needs more explanation, but whatever...). Then they told me it's out of scope for their bugbounty.

I guess then there's really no reason not to tell you: They have a 384 bit RSA DKIM key configured at: dkim._domainkey.t-systems.nl

384 bit RSA is... how shall I put it? I think 512 bit is the lowest RSA key size that was ever really used. 384 bit RSA is crackable in a few hours on a modern PC (using cado-nfs). The private key is:

Gaël Duval is the founder and president of the /e/ foundation along with the CEO of Murena. Duval and his organizations have consistently taken a stance against protecting users from exploits. In this video, he once again claims protecting against exploits is only useful for pedophiles and spies.
