It's like a game of chicken between hard drive prices and my data hoarding of Linux isos #fuckai #tech #datastorage #linux #totallylinuxisos

That time on #stargatesg1 when they decided to mix #startrektng episodes #FutureImperfect and #shadesofgrey and somehow thought that was a good idea

That time #stargatesg1 travelled by map across America in 1969 because of solarflares or LSD or something, just like #themuppets

The first season of #stargatesg1 goes extremely hard on the orchestral scores and choral choirs. I guess they had #showtime money before getting banished to #syfychannel

Imagine it's 2369. You're on the starship Enterprise, sitting at the bar, nursing a post-work drink and pondering whatever it is a 24th century worker does.

Suddenly, the door opens. A dude in Victorian attire walks in, led by your captain, and proceeds to nearly have a stroke at the sight of space while the captain monologues at him about "this century" and not being a villain.

You sip your Samarian Sunset and try not to make eye contact.

The Victorian starts complaining that the holographical love of his life isn't there.

For a second, you wonder if Starfleet picked him up at the funny farm on Risa. Everyone around you is rolling their eyes at this new guy's relationship problems. For some reason, the captain takes the guy at face value and starts arguing ethics with him.

You suddenly wish you had accepted that janitor job on McKinley station instead.

I only just found out about #distrobox assemble. It allows you to define the parameters of a distrobox, give it pre-init commands to build out its environment programmatically and then add your additional packages.

The beauty of this is when it comes to version updates of the base image, you just destroy it and it gets remade automatically. Just like any other container in your environment. Amazing

Here's been me recreating them every six months!

It often feels like #startrek and #starwars have such vitriolic fanbases but not hours after #Amazon announcing Jac Schaeffer is the new showrunner attached to #stargate people are already writing it off and bitching about them dropping Martin Geros series and claiming it will be "woke" 🙄

Fandom doesn't know what it wants, but maybe the internet was a bad idea for it

Has there been a spike in publishing apps to #fdroid? Or has the new store app just improved discoverability?

There seems to be a constant stream of fairly high quality stuff appearing in the new section.

Caught #endgameencore this evening. People talking about cool after credits scenes for #AvengersDoomsday, but the best part about it was the new colour grading. It was starkly (no pun) more vibrant than the original release. It's like they remembered contrast is a thing.

I would be pro new colour for other dreery coloured #MCU entries

#startrek #StrangeNewWorlds season finale proves it can still do scifi. I've missed space anomalies and strange new species.

Felt like this might have been a consolation series finale incase there was no renewal. TAS characters were a nice blink and you'll miss it touch.

My "Future of Desktop UX (part 2)" talk at #KDE Akademy is now up and it's racking up lots of views. I'm excited people want to discuss this more.

Now I just need someone with Wayland experience to help me prototype this.

If we want to ban algorithmic platforms for kids, we should have the courage to do the right thing and ban ALL algorithmic platforms. For everyone. In perpetuity.

Fedora 45 beta rebase, let's go!

A "wtf is Jim Kirk doing on the Enterprise again?" Episode is unexpectedly probably the best episode of the season so far and proves #StrangeNewWorlds can still make a gimmick free episode when it wants to. Did a good job moving some pieces into place for TOS at the same time.

This should have been placed earlier in the season to break up the genre swings

I was unaware of this and when asking my new bank to verify destruction of my biometrics under the APP1988, they are claiming retention under the AML for 7 years after the closure of the morgage.

Grotesque nany state we live in. So gross. Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park comes to mind - just because they can collect this stuff, doesn't mean they should. especially when it could or will eventually leak. I cant change my face

Fun trap for people apply/refinancing their mortgage. The NextGen biometric that banks are requesting to for verification is being claimed as an exception to the Privacy Act 1988.

It doesn't have to be de identified or destroyed after verification for Tranche1 entities under the AntiMoney Laundering / CTF act.
