Do you need clips of snow leopards cuddling? Yes. Yes, you do :3
Programming isn’t for girls, they told me, and I didn’t care. Programming isn’t for humans, they tell me, and do you think I fucking care?

There is no such thing as "ethically using AI". AI is trained on stolen data. AI is destroying the environment and communities. AI is making us stupid. Use AI if you want, just don't pretend you're doing it in ethical way.

There are better ways to deal with online harms in the UK.
This includes tackling the business models that prioritise harmful content to generate sustained engagement and therefore ad revenue.
The privacy risks of age verification run by unregulated providers is too great.

Age verification risks creating a privacy time-bomb.
Whether ID scans or face scans, putting age checkpoints on everyday Internet use is unwise.
Not only is this sensitive and personal data vulnerable to data breaches, it can be used by companies for profiling, tracking and commercial reuse.

For the record I think that with about 24 hours of Cybersecurity Awareness Month left, at this point I'm sufficiently aware of cybersecurity.
I don't think any additional cybersecurity awareness is necessary. This is plenty, you know? More than plenty. Enough, I would say. I get it. Awareness confirmed. Ample awareness. We're good.

"Once a year, Corvo, the smallest and most northerly island of Portugal’s Azores archipelago, goes dark. Since 2019, the island’s 450 or so inhabitants have chosen to switch off the lights every autumn for five nights to tackle the disastrous effects of artificial light on Cory’s shearwaters, a seabird endemic to the Atlantic Ocean."

@thomholwerda I've always found the BSDs to exude that, specifically NetBSD and OpenBSD, because while fully functional, the base system remains small and simple enough to be understood fully by a single person. Very little is abstracted behind more complex things. It is very easy to know what every single process does out of the box, and what every config file in /etc is for.
A system where you can configure absolutely anything by simply hitting the man pages for info definitely feels that way
I really like internet memes, and this one definitely made me smile 🙂
It probably overestimates my role and should encourage more people to support open-source projects, particularly @thephpf, which handled the two recent critical security vulnerabilities exceptionally well by preparing patches, including for older, unmaintained versions, and by communicating with package maintainers in the distributions (like @ondrej and me), and by providing information to users.
