Good morning lovely people 💕💕
Happy Thursday to you all 😁

After another day of recuperating & doing nothing but crochet yesterday, I'm feeling much better this morning, I haven't woken up exhausted for the first this week!

Sending massive love and hugs to you all
💕💕🤗🤗

Waiting at the bus stop.

Front yard papayas! They won't be ripe before we leave so I'm buying some from HEB.

I’m planning my illustrations for #FolktaleWeek26 and one thing I like to do is look at how work in my portfolio might fit the prompts, to help brainstorm about the right #folktale or #fairytale to illustrate.

The first prompt is glimpse, which made me think of fairytales with animal/supernatural spouses where glimpses of their alternate forms are forbidden.

Here are a couple such stories illustrated. First, in East of the Sun, West of the Moon, the princess is 🧵1/

Look, you know I question the value of elections in a "representative democracy" under capitalism - but if you're going to have them, they should be very fair.

Don't make the lesson you learn from this be that GOP rigging doesn't work - all the voter suppression and gerrymandering they did would have helped them steal a normal election. People were just pissed off enough to beat the rig. You still have a problem that has to be addressed here re: elections rigged for Nazis.

As of this morning it's 259 Dem seats in the House to 176 Republican seats. And that is overcoming extreme, illegal-on-top-of-should-be-illegal gerrymandering across the country.

Imagine the size of the Dem Caucus if we had fair maps nationwide. Also, if we had no voter suppression-- everybody saw how long so many people had to stand in line, sometimes in the rain, in order to vote. A few states in the South have no early voting for this reason.

The Republicans can't win if they can't cheat.

You don’t have to throw trans people under the bus to win an election.

You don’t have to cater to the bigots.

You don’t need to abandon the disabled, marginalized and LGBTQ+.

It was a big night for the Dems, but they need to meet the moment.

No more centrist bs.

It’s time for progressive change

There's a heck of a lot of heat around the world's oceans over the last three months. Some of this is clearly associated with El Niño, but there's also notable other marine heat waves (and climate change). This can be tied as a source to areas of record-breaking precipitation.

Oh my god!

Keri Ingle won her state senate seat in Missouri last night.

For those who don't know, she was one of the fiercest opponents to trans bans.

She unseats the former House Speaker in a senate seat R's have held for decades.

She was partly responsible for the MO Ban's sunset clause!

How many of these so-called “red states” are actually voter suppression states?

Once you see it, it’s hard to stop seeing it.

WHICH MEANS…

only after the 120th Congress is sworn in and seated, do congresscritters get to pick a Speaker Of The House and a US Senate Majority Leader.

you see, because of the small margins of the 119th and their lack of investment in most congressional races, centrists assumed a paper thin majority.

🗣THE DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IS NOT ONLY FETTERMAN PROOF,
IT IS SCHUMER AND JEFFRIES PROOF.

the incoming Democrats can choose whomever the fuck they want, corporatist centrists be damned. /🧵

My grandmother was a child during the Russian Revolution (a civil war). She used to tell me about how soldiers from both sides would be traveling through her village threatening to take their last bread. My grandmother had a manual sewing machine and mended uniforms in exchange for them leaving the family's food alone.

To say that it was windy when we visited St. Ninian's Beach is an understatement. Luckily it wasn't windy enough for the water to cover the tombolo that connects the mainland Shetland to St. Ninian's Isle so we could still do the crossing and back. The tombolo is the largest one in the UK.
