The ‘See it. Say it. Sorted.’ rail safety campaign has marked its 10th anniversary, with more than 1.5 million texts sent to #British #Transport #Police (BTP) since its launch in 2016. The reports have resulted in more than 175,000 police deployments and almost 83,000 crimes recorded.
The free, discreet 61016 service allows passengers to report crime, suspicious behaviour and safety concerns. More than 200,000 messages are now received annually, helping officers take action and bring offenders to justice.
The #Government is also investing £63 million in British Transport Police over three years to fund more than 200 additional officers, alongside £17 million to improve station CCTV. The campaign, initially launched to tackle terrorism, has since expanded to cover a wider range of #railway safety issues.
