# Funding Free / open source software: what can I, personally, do differently?
Almost five years on, and I don't think that much has changed.
I wish that there was an easier way of funding Free software.

My small business runs almost exclusively on FOSS, and I started to keep track of donations, but it was a piecemeal, hard to keep up, approach:
@neil What's your CRM? What's your AI stack?
This is a little outdated, but pretty close still:

I don't use AI
@neil That was a really compelling read getting to see what all you're using! Thanks for sharing and I'll be sure to keep up with your blog (Hugo, I've learned!).
It was Hugo back then - now BSSG :)

This is a wonderful article, reflecting on ones own best means to contribute to works of others, and providing mutual benefit that way. 💕
That in itself could be like a method. People have a /me and /now page. Might also have a /fund page. Such page is both insightful to people who'd like to be funded as well as for other who'd like to fund.
Tangential, @omkar_foss is reviving / updating delightful funding curated list, by processing the huge backlog I had hanging around for years. Already a lot has been added, more is coming.

On the systemic side Social coding commons has Sustainable FOSS, or rather SOSS - Sustainable open social software / systems / services / solutions - initiatives as a concept to elaborate, via Social experience design (SX). SOSS has a solution supply chain, FOSS has a lifecycle.
The FOSS model is broken. FOSS is only useful as a label on the software artifact, the deliverable, but is inadequate for the movement of its creators.
