Mission Control and Spaces in macOS have been buggy for a while… but it’s gotten dramatically worse on macOS 27 Golden Gate. Frequently now the thumbnails for Spaces show the desktop wallpaper or a black background, missing the windows in that Space: Most of these Spaces had windows in them! ☹️
Trying to imagine feeling the need to weigh in defending billionaires here. Under Tim, Epic laid off ~20% of its employees earlier this year. Whatever you think about AI—people are actually afraid for their work and their security. Care about people; resist leaders who don't.
Oh, one more thing. If you’re a web developer and wondering “how does this C++ library affect me” … Paul Henschel (of R3F) has already published a WASM wrapper for SMLib, and it looks excellent:
If you’re interested in #OpenSource 3D CAD software—NVIDIA made a major announcement on Friday. They released a suite of BRep software libraries (NURBS boundary-representation solid modeling), including SMLib.
SMLib is not a new library. It’s been used in production for decades (!) as commercial software, now free under Apache 2.0 license. Most immediately this supports CAD use cases for USD, but it’s a win for the wider 3D open source ecosystem too. My team has been evaluating SMLib internally for a while now, and we’re very excited!
My critique on the announcement though: I’m glad to see srgb-linear and display-p3-linear supported on the canvas context, but, a “linear relationship between pixel values and physical luminance” is an alluring bridge to nowhere. You almost certainly do NOT want this to be the image formation choice in your game.

I’ve been using Aphera in beta and it’s a great alternative to Lightroom for serious photo flows, with some interesting new ideas.
Aphera 1.0 is live! 🎉
Download and trial free (no CC required), or grab it now at launch pricing for 50% off for the next two weeks only.
We built Aphera to work with your images intentionally, without overwhelming, and to get your creative flow back. Built for our own workflow first, and it's been great seeing others feel that too.
This is just the start — plenty more coming.

...About "Faithful representation" in photography...
I often use this example as a simplification of "no such thing as correct".
Take this bust in a room with pure, deep blue light. You take a picture of it.
If you were to "white balance" it, after some additional corrections, you would end up with image B.
Now, what's the intent? Did you mean to depict how strong the blue light was in that room, or that the bust was made of beautiful white marble?
Which is "correct"?
