I figured this out, for some reason YouTube disabled YouTube Premium for me, I had to reenable it. Not sure why this happened. I was still signed up, it was jut disabled.
@grumpygamer YouTube arbitrarily decides to log me out which I don’t realise except by seeing the ads. Sigh.
@grumpygamer I had the same happen to me last year. I figured some update borked the setting, but it didn't dawn on me to even check my account status.
I've sadly found Smartertube to be more useful than the official application, at least on Android TV.
@grumpygamer Im a huge fan of the feature it when YT auto re-enables the play on hover feature every other week. Nothing quite like opening up the settings page and trying to find where they moved it to this time.
@grumpygamer Well, at least you figured it out.
@grumpygamer Are you maybe sharing the account with others who don’t live nearby? I was for years in a family account with my brother who lives 2h away and Youtube just recently decided that’s no good. But they did send me an email to warn me.
@grumpygamer Why would that even be an option? 🤪
@grumpygamer When these things increasingly happen, I assume it is because of all the vibe coding.
@grumpygamer Very much guessing they didn’t also disable the billing aspect of things.
