I grew up believing that the future would be better for everyone. The ultra-rich stole that hope from all of us.

    I want it back.

@Quasit Same. The 90s were a time of hope for our friendship group. It seemed that for all the problems in the world, things were slowly getting better.

    How wrong we all were.

@ApostateEnglishman @Quasit we were always building cool things and asking ourselves "How could this be used for evil?" When we came up with the answer we would delete it

Sadly we knew that others were not doing that 😔

EDIT: and this is why we can't have nice things

I left Germany just a year before the Berlin Wall came down.
Just under a decade later, there was the Good Friday Agreement.
I really thought the world was becoming a better place.
Scooby Doo was right every time. The monsters always turn out to be evil old men.

What Mamdani is doing for New York, that's what I thought Clinton was going to do for America, waaàay back when.

Best ad for any politician running right now, "I will do it like Mamdani!"
