The Volcano, The Elf Rock And The Rainbow

On a clear day such as this one in late October the view from Dyrhólaey is astonishing.

In the distance is Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano which disrupted air traffic for a week in 2010.
The steep-sided mountain is Pétursey; good elves live on one side and evil elves are on the other. Be quiet and respectful near their home and they will leave you in peace.

    And the rainbow? Just serendipity!

A colour photo of a view from height overlooking a large flat area of land with some prominences. The sky is overcast but strong sunlight is coming from the left, and the landscape is dotted with cloud shadows. In the distance is a glacier-capped volcano, only partly seen due to heavy cloud at its cap. The foreground is brown meadow land with large areas of ice and snow, in one place a farm road is highlighted in ice. Several buildings are scattered around, mainly small clusters of farm structures. In the middle distance is a slope-sided brown rock island with vertical surfaces near the top. To its right is an arc of strong rainbow colours, hanging above another prominence.

@mo it seems the elf rock just dropped out of the sky. I wonder how bizarre it must be to live there with this "rock" in your back garden.
A wonderful composition and I learned a new wordv serendipity
