I can't rank my favorite Beatles albums in strict order, but I can put them in tiers. No particular order within tiers. Not counting compilations, special releases, etc.

Tier 1:
Abbey Road
Sgt Pepper
The White Album

Tier 2:
Revolver
Rubber Soul
Magical Mystery Tour

Tier 3:
Everything else

No shade on Let It Be, I just never really listened to that one much.

Along with the albums mentioned, The White Album has its own large section in my brain.

Recently I've enjoyed getting more into Rubber Soul and Revolver. I always felt the earlier albums were a bit boring, just plain old rock and roll. On Rubber Soul and Revolver, you could see a new level of creativity really start to take hold, and then next thing you know, it was Sgt Pepper, BAM!!!

When I listen to a lot of these same albums, it doesn't feel like listening to external audio so much as just calling up what's already cemented into my brain over the last 5 decades. Every note, every quaver in every lyric, it's all there in my head. It's hard to get distance and really "listen" to it. Which is why I enjoyed the Escher Demos and Anthology albums a few years back. Made the old stuff fresh again.

I've always been a big Beatles fan. One of my earliest memories is my aunt (a teenager at the time) playing Octopus's Garden for me, around the time Abbey Road actually came out.

In my own early teens, listened to Magical Mystery Tour over and over. Later, when I got a car I had a 90 minute cassette with Abbey Road on one side and Sgt Pepper on the other, that just got played continuously.

The past few years I got a little burnt out on them, and haven't listened much, but started in yesterday.

Animating the gravity lets us see the structures grow and collapse. Here the gravity varies from -0.155 to -0.125. The image scales based on the gravity amount so it stays approximately the same size.

My love affair with Searxng may be a brief fling. It aggregates a bunch of search engines, but it seems many of those engines either rate limit it or put a captcha in front of it. The result is I'm getting mostly duckduckgo answers. Will dig into solutions later, but feels like it's gonna be a cat and mouse game.

Businesses/product departments have the concept of a "one pager" to describe the business or specific project you are working. In tools like Confluence, a "page" has no maximum length. It can take me 30 minutes to read one of these one pagers.

You can see in that last screenshot that Brave, startpage, and some others block searches sometimes. But easy enough to remove them in prefs, or remove slow engines to speed up the result. Very configurable.

more on the results of a random thing I searched for. I think these are pretty good. and interesting data in the side bar (collapsed by default). it will also show suggestions for better searches in that side bar, also collapsed. useful but not distracting.

Also note that for each result, it shows you where it came from.

Perhaps one of the reasons I'm not into LLMs is because I am not really convinced that what we need in the world is more stuff done faster.

I'd like to see a "slow the fuck down" movement and a "does this really need to be done?" movement.

Do corporations *really* need to be moving ever faster, generating more stuff, growing endlessly like cancers?

Maybe I'm just old and tired, but I'd like to have just... less of everything.

Except cat pictures, of course. Keep 'em coming.

I'd say #searxng is a bit slower than say, Google, but not painfully slow. Going to stick with this for a while.
