good thing I don't need to do anything WITH APT RIGHT NOW
okay. deep breaths. re-pulling didn't do anything but deleting and recreating my docker disk image fixed it.
staring across a wasteland of lockfiles that require immediate attention, forever, we must imagine Sisyphus singing, "I like dep bumps and I cannot lie"
@glyph Is this another case of "checksums only work if you check them"?
@FunkyBob maybe? notably, apple does not include checksums in their native filesystem because they just buy higher quality ECC SSDs and assume they work well enough https://ahl.dtrace.org/2016/06/19/apfs-part5/#checksums
@glyph Potentially one of the layers of the image got muddled, but docker pull may not have noticed as it only checked the label-which-happens-to-be-the-checksum, instead of checking the checksum?
This could explain why pull didn't help, but rm and pull did.
@FunkyBob seems plausible? any other day but today I'd probably archive the image and check, but right now I don't care :)
@glyph there is actually a fun new crash on Rosetta-based containers where tar fixed some dir traversal by using openat2 and I have to pin it now because it’s missing in macOS or something. 😳
@hynek maybe computers were a mistake
@glyph I’m not smart enough to do things without computers glyph
@hynek me neither, unfortunately
This is the first time I'm learning there's a rolling Ubuntu remix
@pewnack a much better base for a "run security updates every week" base image
