omg phone, stop capitalising the word "bluetooth", it doesn't deserve it

I've watched Q Who so many times (the first Borg episode) that it has lost all meaning. Also I've had two coffees today.

My local gamedev scene moved en masse to bluesky a few years ago and, of course, all they got was the same structural corporate problems of twitter... sad to watch history repeating

Goddamnit, the worst person in the world has built a super cool flying car. Yes it's useless as a car but it is undeniably impressive.

Hear me out... perhaps the flaw with the Pitch Black films is that the later entries followed the Riddick character instead of the Pitch Black planet.

Most potential pet owners consider things like breeding, size, coat, intelligence, trainability, and temperament. Often overlooked is the crucially important element of aerodynamics, which can greatly affect your gas mileage, raising the overall cost of ownership significantly.

New album from The Avalanches today and it's not grabbing on first listen.

Their last album, We Will Always Love You (2020), is still my favourite of theirs.

You look at the gameography of every big game studio and it's like 3-5 games a year for ages, then two games for a few years, then one game every five years, then bankrupt.

Things are going well on Mars...

New paper - Systematic non-compliance of satellite megaconstellations with IAU brightness limits.

Observations from late 2024 show that "observed population is systematically brighter than the altitude-adjusted limit of order 7th magnitude recommended by the IAU.

The emerging Guowang/Hulianwang constellation is the worst.

Starlink is quite bad.

OneWeb was the most compliant major operator."

Do birds eat bees? I see them eating the spiders and the moths

Last few missions in Low Earth Orbit Adventures haven't felt like they've built on the game rather that they've been added to the game.

It's a feeling I don't think I'm articulating properly

Current thinking is I should polish and deepen the existing missions than add any more.

Game is a bit more arcade-y than the spacesim I originally imagined. No crime there, at some point a project becomes its own thing.

Stuck in a food rut at the moment... protein and side, protein and side. Any suggestions for a good evening meal using beans, lentils or peas?

Is anyone else kind of impressed that these "hacked" fridges could get up to 50 degrees? The engineers didn't skimp on the parts

@upmultimedia Blowing up data centers works!

The evidence for "right wing" and "ragebait" bots flat-lining after Ukraine damaged some Russian data centres is slim but more compelling is that the yandex search indexing bots did drop off. This may have a secondary effect of disrupting bot farms from finding fresh social media posts to flood.

Looking forward to the boffins tracking if there has been a measurable dip in this stuff and publishing actual results either way.

Wishful thinking I suppose. Super interesting though!

Why do Americans post screenshots of texts about US politics instead of the actual text? I don't really expect them to use a #uspol tag but it makes it impossible to filter out...
