    JUSTICE FOR
    THE
    DOLLS

We stand in solidarity with The Dolls of Berlin and queer community centre Casa Kuà.

(⬇️ donation links at the bottom of the post)

The Dolls is a transfem community in Berlin that also does education on (DIY) HRT, these are essential resources for trans people in need of healthcare.

Last Sunday, Casa Kuà, the place where The Dolls held their event, got raided by the police. Everyone present got ID'ed, and detained. Allegedly, HRT and supplies were confiscated. Trans healthcare is not a crime, it's a bogus charge. The Dolls were doing nothing illegal, yet they were met with state violence.

The events of Stonewall and the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft are repeated right before our eyes.

Healthcare is a right, but all too often people do not have access to it. For trans healthcare this is unfortunately commonplace. Some are required to find healthcare outside of systems that are inaccessible and gatekeeping.

This will happen, period. You cannot stop people from seeking and getting life-saving gender-affirming healthcare. But there is a difference in whether this happens with the guidance of a loving and caring community or not.

HRT education, injection safety and trans communtiy are crucial and life saving. The Dolls are here to stay!

The Dolls and Casa Kuà have a fundraiser. And they could really use the money, also for potential legal expenses. So if you can spare an euro or two, or more, that'd be really nice and cool.

    What’s inaccurate or omitted

“Everyone was detained” is not supported. Attendees were held in place while the search was under way; according to one participant, police didn’t allow them to use their phones. But the reports mention only one person temporarily taken into custody.

It wasn’t only HRT that was seized. According to police, they seized prescription drugs and narcotics, data storage devices, and cash in the four-figure range. This is the police’s account and hasn’t been verified, but the post leaves it out entirely.

“Estrogen is not a controlled substance” is a misleading argument. It’s true that estrogen isn’t covered by the BtMG (the narcotics law), and possession for personal use isn’t the issue. But estradiol is a prescription-only drug, and distributing or selling it outside the pharmacy system is prohibited under the AMG (the medicines act). That is the actual allegation: the public prosecutor’s office is investigating suspected illegal trade in prescription medicines. The complaints reportedly claim that hormone preparations were handed out regularly on Sundays at 5 pm without medical supervision. The post rebuts an accusation nobody made.

“Doing education” is not established and there is no evidence on this "education". . That they were only providing education is the Dolls’ own account. The allegation concerns distribution, and the trial will clarify this.

“They were doing nothing illegal” is premature. Nobody knows that yet, neither the post’s authors nor the police. It’s the subject of an investigation that has apparently been running for some time. A seizure isn’t a conviction, but it isn’t proof of innocence either.

“State violence” is a judgment, not a fact. About 130–140 people gathered outside the centre. Police reported scuffles between participants and officers; one person was issued an order to leave the area, and according to police, no one was injured. One eyewitness described the police action as violent and disproportionate, partly because officers were carrying batons.

Selling prescription-bond drugs in Germany is illegal.
