I tried to also tell her that there was no one "inside" the chat bot. There's no one with any wants or desires. I don't think she believed me.

My dad enjoys interacting with his chatbot (I think he uses Gemini) and he told my mom that it remembers things that he's forgotten (things about their ongoing conversation). So that's why she thinks it remembers "more than people".

Aside from all the harm the "AI" companies have done to the environment, to the labor market, to peoples' mental health, and to the global sum of human knowledge, make sure to add "scaring everyday people" and "making everyday people think that LLM == "AI like in movies"".
