I kidnapped 3 cats today. Two of them were video game cats in #Obenseuer - the orange one with glowing green eyes and the gray tabby have been added to the cat tree in my apartment.
And then there's Bob.
I got such looks for betraying his tiny trust, scooping him up and stuffing him in a cat carrier and driving him to the vet. One moment he was purring and getting scritches, the next he was wailing in a car carrier speeding down the road.
He was absolutely terrified and I feel awful. BUT. We have confirmed he has no communicable diseases. Most of his vaccines have been updated. We discovered he's been chipped but the lookup site was down so we don't know if he has/had an actual owner or if he was chipped by those that neutered him and docked his ear and set him loose.
The vets couldn't get near his head so we don't know the state of his teeth. Apparently he escaped being burrito'd and they had to chase him down in the lab. Absolutely terrified little man.
He's now silent and dopey from the vaccines and locked in our bathroom with food and water.
He hasn't laid a claw or tooth on us and doesn't have the energy or wherewithal to explore or try to escape. He curls himself into a tight little ball and makes sad little grunts if you brush or pet or scritch him.
I feel like we broke Bob; he's such a happy little potato otherwise.
We put a cat box with sand in the bathtub along with the cat carrier we used to kidnap him. I came in later and he was wide eyed in the cat box. No obvious emissions in the cat box (Test #2 is seeing if he knows how to use a litter box).
Gracie was camped out near the bathroom door so I cautiously let her in rhe bathroom. If she suspected another cat was in the room, she didn't let on; didn't even peek in the tub, one of her favorite places. She was just confused why the bathroom door was closed, wandered in, looked around and left.
Donut suspects something but he doesn't know what.
I'm hoping Bob forgives us and is feeling less dopey and terrified tomorrow. He's such a lovable potato, signs look good so far, but I still feel like I betrayed and broke him. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
