@davidrevoy I gave General Belisarivs a male name after AMAFPF (Assigned Male At First Porch Feeding), but after capturing the General for medical treatment, she turned out to be female. And is now the second-best Cat in the Multiverse.

"AI is going to solve so many medical and scientific--"

no it won't. there's no money in it.

"but cancer--"

nope!

how do I know? we could completely solve poverty right now for around 10% of elon musk's net worth. but we don't! because there's no money in it. and that's that. end of story.

we could solve hunger and poverty overnight, which would eliminate a huge percentage of health issues to the point it'd make any hypothetical cancer cure blush.

but we don't. there's no money in it.

AI is useful for wage suppression and power consolidation. *those* things make money. :)

Remember that most of that is paper wealth (which is also how they get away with paying almost no taxes)

If sanity strikes and his company valuations go down the drain, this will evaporate. While still leaving him filthy rich though. https://wandering.shop/@fugueish/117569648422869138

The only data center I support is the library!

I got a free magazine in the mail that says on the cover that “smart appliances” in the home will save the overburdened Dutch power grid. Or we could not authorize that new datacenter on the other side of town that everyone’s protesting, Femke

If anyone wants a cursed screen name, may I suggest: Reply Guy Fawkes

Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Bad Omen Pin. This is exactly how your cat looks at you when dinner is one minute late. Including the ominous skull and everything, they can actually do that.

Let us please keep this straight MSM ... AI stocks didn't drop because of the Democrats. They dropped because their artificial valuation was protected by grifters and con-men in power shoveling funding to techbros to support their authoritarian takeover of democracy.

The people valued accountability over the stock market. The money was never actually there, and still isn't there, which is why the tech stocks will continue to fall....

"I no longer believe that our technology will have a net positive impact on society. I think there's a fantasy world where AI can help decarbonise grids, cut waste, protect ecosystems, and benefit humanity. But it's not this world, and it's not this type of general-purpose AI we are racing to develop. Racing to deploy agentic AI in society as it is now and in this historical moment is a terrible idea, and will definitely be a net evil.

Technology is NOT a neutral tool. This assessment assumes we can separate technology from the context it's deployed into, but we should not: we have a responsibility to assess the tool in the context in which it's going to be used. It also assumes we can separate the technology from who owns it, builds it, controls it, and benefits from it."

New here. Tired of the AI scraping on IG! Hoping to find my fellow artist community and art collectors here.

Curious that there's so much perseverating about "revenge". Let's be clear, when you deliberately mischaracterize justice as "revenge" you succumb to enabling corruption and criminality.
Without accountability we reward corruption, we foment evil, we encourage abuse, unfettered violence toward the weak helpless and innocent, and sanction brutality and mayhem.
A civil society requires justice. A democracy requires justice. Justice requires accountability.
Don't let ANYONE, any media, any pundit, anyone convince you that the erasure of responsibility is noble, is virtuous or ethical - it is not.
Responsibility requires truth, discomfort, penance, moral evaluation, and the requirement of righteous amends, of acts of atonement, to be accountable for and try to repair what you destroyed, brutalized, or murdered.
The future of our democracy requires justice for the crimes committed against our nation, against our most vulnerable. You fix what you break. That's not revenge, that's adult commitment to our national values. E pluribus unum.

@marleenstikker @marleen.oso.social @hrifeu
