Curious that there's so much perseverating about "revenge". Let's be clear, when you deliberately mischaracterize justice as "revenge" you succumb to enabling corruption and criminality.
Without accountability we reward corruption, we foment evil, we encourage abuse, unfettered violence toward the weak helpless and innocent, and sanction brutality and mayhem.
A civil society requires justice. A democracy requires justice. Justice requires accountability.
Don't let ANYONE, any media, any pundit, anyone convince you that the erasure of responsibility is noble, is virtuous or ethical - it is not.
Responsibility requires truth, discomfort, penance, moral evaluation, and the requirement of righteous amends, of acts of atonement, to be accountable for and try to repair what you destroyed, brutalized, or murdered.
The future of our democracy requires justice for the crimes committed against our nation, against our most vulnerable. You fix what you break. That's not revenge, that's adult commitment to our national values. E pluribus unum.
