at this point i think hashes and uuids are all terrible for both admins and users and we should just actually give things names, and use those names both to locate things you want to watch and for administrative purposes. shocking, i know.
@keithzg yes! it could be named in a way that compromises neatly between readability and its utility as an identifier, as a deliberate decision
@scanlime database guy here. things should be unique with an automatically generated UUID, but people should give them unique names.
computers are bad at names. people are bad at unique. so it's both.
@fishidwardrobe i dunno about the uuid though.. i understand the utility in internal systems but imo this is like the url slug you used to make manually when blogging
