I wonder what the actual percentage of mainstream movies really on the women dying or is captured etc to motivate the male hero.
I know it's a lot. Is it over 50 percent. I bet. Is it over 75 percent?
@Sablebadger Unfortunately there are many shades and variations of Fridging. It also extends to a Male Protagonists Children, and in some extreme cases Pets.

I've even seen it happen to a *female* side character's adoptive child. (Yeah, Icheb counts IMO.)
