I feel like this whole "Add a Passkey to your account" came out of nowhere, with no explanation and was suddenly everywhere.

I still don't understand why...

I've read at least one of the books (braking day), and have always wanted to check out @nnedi Nnedi Okorafor's books because they look super interesting.

I've also found that reading sci fi books from different backgrounds is really satisfying, and enlightening. You get a different perspective, and it's fun to break out of your standard shell.

What can I cook with a lot of tomatoes. Raw is not an option, no one in the family likes tomatoes but me. :)

Me and two random strangers at Goodwill may have saved a life today.

A woman in the parking lot likely ODd and I grabbed the Narcan we keep in the car glove box while the other two called 911 and calmed her friend.

She's in the care of the ambulance folks now and was looking more alert and responding.

Finished Halcyon Years by Alistair Reynolds last night. I am a fan of Reynolds, and this book did not disappoint. This is on the lighter side of his work, less hard sci fi, and more of a great tale set in a sci fi world.

It starts out like a typical "Sam Spade" novel but slowly grows into a more complex narrative set on a generation ship headed for a far away star. The Detective is Yuri Gagarin.

I won't go deep to avoid spoiling, but I highly recommend this one.

#trans folks and parents of teen trans, I would love some help. Our kid (18) is trans, and will be potentially starting Estrogen soon.

We love and support our kiddo, 100%. That is not a question.

As parents tho we are in uncharted territory for us. My wife admitted last night she is worried they might "change" somehow, which she fully calls anxiety, but it would be helpful to know more.

Any supportive parents of trans kids willing to share experiences?

i just ordered an XT Ink reader, the little hackable e book reader. I have a kindle paperwhite now, which I hope to jailbreak and get wrest control of my books back from the Amazon.

with the hackability and opensource firmware replacement OS on the XT is it possible to sync between my kindle and xt? I imagine not. But maybe some has this figured out?

I will admit... I'm kind of tired of hearing the name Messi...

I want to know something...

Search for information about the thing.

click link: YOU HAVE AN AD BLOCKER DISABLE IT TO READ.... No.

Click next link: Subscribe to Read! No.

Click next link: Complicated and counter intuitive Cookies pop ups.... No.

Click next link: Totally unrelated content... No.

I guess I didn't really want to know the answer that bad... Give up.

Hope someone on Mastodon posts about it because that's the only reliable source of info these days....

Ended up changed the name of my sci fi miniatures skirmish game to Omega Salvage. A video game with a very similar name and theme contacted me about it, and I made the change. They were first, and there was definitely chances of confusion, so I felt I should.

Updated the itch.io listing with updated PDF docs, and a new expansion content and some printable threat cards.

Wife goes to the store, and comes home with this for you. :)

Sci Fi cover art was wild back in the day. I mean this cover has it all! Funky robot, transparent heads, captive sexy ladies, weird landscape, planets with rings...

I kind of want to make a poster out of this.

#Seattle are goat rental services still around for clearing blackberries?

Life is exhausting.

Been using Nova launcher on my android phone for a bit. Just discovered it now had embedded AI for no real reason I can figure out.

What are the best alternatives to Nova Launcher?

My #trans teen is working on a senior project related to music and mental health, specifically in marginalized communities (like trans/queer kids).

If you know of any articles, papers, pages, citations, information on how music and/or live music shows help mental health especially in those communities, can you share it with me to pass along to them?

Please boost for broad reach? Just trying to arm them with as much info as I can to help.
