@jfml @gnome When HDMI is connected my laptop won't go to sleep when I close the lid. I'm wondering whether there are any "dummy" HDMI dongles out there for this purpose...

@jfml Plugging an external keyboard and monitor automatically prevents lid sleep. Otherwise sleep is the expected behavior on lid close for laptops to not cook themselves...

Depending on your device it might be a feature hidden in the BIOS / UEFI menu.
