@jef Just another reminder that some far-left voices (especially on the Internet) are psyops whose sole purpose is to manage, neutralize, and/or discredit legitimate opposition.

It would be nice if the article mentioned what Mamdani did that these protesters found objectionable.

This way it reads like a hit piece on a nebulous “far left” with a half assed lip service to DSA), that co-opts Mamdani’s popularity with slightly leftist liberals. It also expertly distances itself from Palestinian resistance as a cause.

I think that is the point: he didn’t “do” anything more than breathe and be himself.

    These are trolls practicing trollsmanship.

@paninid but even if that is the case, without a sound analysis of what’s what, this doesn’t accomplish anything other than equating protest of a genocide with trolling for the sake of trolling.

If these are just a group of random trolls that happened to co-opt an actual cause, it’s not “the left” that’s doing it. The article not only fails to make the distinction, it pushes that as the point.

This is the actual far left, or is this the regular left in a country where actually pretty conservative pols get attacked for being radical leftists?
