I've not had much luck convincing my joints to move on this day, and I can't get my braces on cause swelling, but when looking for inspiration for inktober, I often turn towards medieval manuscripts, because the art in them is just bonkers. Despite it not being relevant, I did feel it necessary to share.

So, while tomorrow will include today and tomorrow's prompts, today instead I give you; a sultry sturgeon atop a jousting helmet. The middle ages were wild, if the illustrations are anything to go by.

    (edit alt image revision)

Knight: The tournament is about to begin. Bring me my most fearsome battle helmet!
Squire: The one with the sturgeon wearing mascara?
Knight: *nodding slowly* ... let them tremble beneath its sultry gaze...

It is an illustration from a medieval manuscript, that does indeed have a knight in livery of his house, wielding a sword, while atop his helmet, a large fish has taken a large bite, and is holding on, looking towards the field of battle with a "come hither" sort of gaze."

Monks were weird man. Lots of time on their hands. Many strange illustrations.

@MissConstrue I love that, even without the fish, that outfit is excessive in, like, every respect. Even the horse is dressed in an outfit I probably couldn't afford *now*, let alone in the 14th century.

@MissConstrue Personally, I'm fond of the "Heavily armed murder bunnies" genre of weird medieval bullshit.

@miss_rodent Omg, what was it about rabbits in the Middle Ages? There is some wild-ass shit being performed by demented hares in manuscripts!
