  @emily_s @amy my first thought would be whether an IP-esque global addressing approach makes sense at all when links might have to necessarily become transient in nature but that also applies to terrestrial internetworking and that never stopped the ARPANET

  @hipsterelectron @emily_s links are totally distinct from addressing. A link is literally just the establishment of shared state.

  @amy @emily_s not in the internet protocol which completely forgoes the representation of links altogether. this is the first thing i sought to address particularly after learning it was an edict of louis pouzin's conception of catenets
