@getbookshelves Does Bookshelves interact with Xteink devices (X3 in my case)? I know that downloads direct from Calibre are possible on Xteink devices, so I wondered if Bookshelves has or will have that feature?

@ctt Not tested with an Xteink yet. BookShelves for Mac has two local-network options: a Calibre wireless server (the same protocol KOReader uses to talk to Calibre, so no Calibre desktop needed) and an OPDS catalog server. If the X3 can connect to Calibre wirelessly or browse OPDS, one of those should work. Both are part of Pro. If you try it, I'd love to hear how it goes.

@getbookshelves Thank you for the reply. I’ll try the X3 with one or both of these methods and report back - I have purchased Pro. And thank you for Bookshelves. I might have found my Calibre alternative that I can open on iOS. Is there any chance that these server options will come to the iOS version, or do iOS limitations prevent that?

@ctt Thank you for going Pro! Both servers are Mac-only for now, and iOS is the main reason: it suspends an app shortly after it leaves the screen, so a server on an iPhone or iPad would drop the connection whenever you switch apps or lock the device. Your library syncs over iCloud, though, so the Mac can serve books you added on your phone. Looking forward to hearing how the X3 goes.

@getbookshelves I had no luck in getting books from Bookshelves to my Xteink X3. I tried both routes, OPDS and via Calibre wireless.

FYI, I am running CrossPoint Reader - crosspointreader.com the Open Source OS forXteink and other readers. They have a CrossPoint plugin for Calibre, which allows books to be transferred from Calibre to devices running CrossPoint Readers.

This means that at the moment I will keep Calibre for transferring books to the X3. Here's a link to the CrossPoint plugin for Calibre - github.com/crosspoint-reader/c

@ctt Thanks for testing it, and sorry for the slow reply. CrossPoint's Calibre plugin finds the reader by UDP broadcast and uploads over its own WebSocket connection. That is a different protocol from the Calibre wireless one KOReader uses, which is why the Calibre route failed. Keeping Calibre for the X3 is the right call for now. I've added CrossPoint support to our list.
