    i looked into it and the atproto dev crew basically has an occasionally video call where they fart around about ideas of how you could have "protected data" on atproto but its not going anywhere because nobody has a good idea of how to do it robustly that wouldn't either damage atproto's strong definition or cause breaking changes. they painted themselves into a corner and now meet up occasionally to ask if the paint disappeared lol.

    @lunalapin the funny thing about breaking changes is that: their lexicon bullshit doesn’t even allow for breaking changes. Last year they started changing the display of images in the main app, requiring dimensions to display the proper aspect ratio…but they couldn’t change the API contract to make it more clear because they can’t make breaking changes to lexicons. It’s so good.

    And I’m sure the fact that they all use AI heavily means they absolutely know what the fuck they’re doing.
