We need more of this involved people at mics.
In germany we give the mics only to politicians who never pass this on to people who have real, hands-on expertise—and no, I don't mean “science.

My building has lost 3 residents this month, one from despair, the other two heat related complications. Yet people still deny climate change here.

It's a bit of a missed opportunity that they didn't spend half an hour with him working on putting the message into his own words. It would have been much more powerful, this is clearly very scripted.

I'm not saying you're wrong, bc I don't know, but neither do you. You're just making assumptions based on the aesthetics.

I could of course be wrong but it seems unlikely.
Either way the he comes off as someone reading a political speech. That is not a wrong thing to do but it's not nearly as powerful as the same message conveyed in a way more like he would with friends or family.
This is where the hour with a comms pro would be good. Find words he's more comfortable with and make him more comfortable with the situation.

No, of course not theoretical "sciences," but the lived experience of people who found themselves facing the consequences and are fully aware of them. They are closer to the world and its people than any politician will ever be.

@SheDrivesMobility The mistrust has been planted over recent years. I do not think that it's an accident, because [insert famous Hannah Ahrendt quote here]. It's us having become very cautious about any message we see noticing even the slightest incongruity and fighting against each other over it.
And I admit that precisely this t-shirt/accent thing hit me as well.
