    it's so angering how the people with the actual authority to do anything about climate stuff are all "I don't know what you mean, that's my emotional support fiery orange sky"

    @nivex @ireneista I live in a place with gorgeous sunsets. Wildfire smoke has never enhanced a damn one.

    When I was still living in CA with my grandma and my future husband (temporary situation, rescued him from his evil family), so many years ago, there was a real bad fire where we weren't sure whether we'd need to evacuate. I'd lived with wildfire all my life, but this time the sky turned orange and lit up the house through the curtains like it was the surface of Mars outside. It did something primal to my brain. I understand what dogs are feeling when they cower or panic during fireworks now. I had to struggle so hard to keep the rational part of my brain from turning entirely off. I'll never forget that feeling of stolen sanity.

    That's what hosts are being paid to normalize and celebrate on these Today Now-ass morning shows. Like a farmer soothing cows in the queue for the cattle gun.
