Maybe Claude can teach the macOS team how to let me unplug a USB stick without throwing up a 'Disk Not Ejected Properly' alert like it's 1995. No other OS does this, not even iOS

@stroughtonsmith I wish there was a middle ground between turning off all caching (as Windows does) and requiring unmount (as macOS does): Maybe they could use caching but flush regularly and somehow show when it is not okay to disconnect (badge on the volume icon, spinner in the menu bar or something similar)? Maybe even keep the cache alive for a while if you disconnected too soon, show an alert, finish writing when reattached?

I don’t know, maybe there is an old-Apple-like solution?

@stroughtonsmith Ha, a long-discussed trait of whether to finish interactions with external disks or save them to finish later. Everything is now fast enough to just do it now & let us unplug a disk without telling macOS we’re going to unplug it 🙁
