I’ve now had nearly this exact conversation with four different people from four separate social circles:

Them: "Yeah, the politics are so bad right now. I just hope when the pendulum swings, it doesn’t go too hard in the other direction, y’know?"

Me: "And what do you think that would look like? Going in the opposite direction of whats happening right now?"

Them: "…I— uh," followed by the dawning realization that they've not actually considered that before saying it anyway
