The teaching moment was quite successful though. Convo went something like this -
Kid: wish we had billion dollars!
Me: what’s so great about having so much money? And do you think all the billionaires are good people??
K: what do you mean?
M: let me put it this way, no amount of work will get you or I a billion dollars. So how do you think billionaires make money? Do you think they work really hard? Where do you think the money comes from?
K: (excitedly) THEY STEAL IT!!

After a good chuckle, I explained a little bit about labor distribution and the fallacy of geniuses. He’s not even 7, so I couldn’t get into the whole syllabus of class warfare. But I think the kids are alright!
