it was obvious that the data was going to be used for things beyond the game, but I always assumed standard boring capitalism (consumer navigation products, maybe some light surveillance) -- not go-go-military-industrial-complex.
never played the game myself because I find even the boring capitalism answer to be a step too far, but damn!
