"I love woodworking so much that I now tell robots to assemble flat pack furniture" said no carpenter every.

"I love baking so much that I started buying cakes from the shop and smashing them together" said no baker ever.

"I love painting miniatures so much that I now just kit-bash parts that my 3D printer already printed in the correct colours" said no wargamer ever.

So why are there software engineers like this? 🤨

To be fair, I guess the guy did say that he now finds himself kicking off bots overnight and then checking the app on his phone FIRST THING in the morning, and prompting them a bit more.

That's clear and unhealthy addiction behaviour.

@ibboard Carpenters are natives who love to work with wood. (Framers and construction carpenters are often times immigrants in US for whom it's a job with low barrier to enter.)

Bakers usually have some affinity to baking cakes.

When I watched Wargamers on Youtube go through their numbers, I'm still baffled that they can live on that.

When Finance bros saw that there's same or more money in tech, they switched majors. It's a theory that I've heard years ago but it explains a lot.

@xgebi Yeah, there's some separation of job and hobby for those areas, so they're not always an exactly equal comparison.

But this guy was saying it in the "software is also my hobby and this is consuming my life" kind of way.
