    Why you want the grill hot: you want to char / sear the outside of the squash before it starts steaming and boiling the interior. If it’s cooked correctly the zucchini will still have structure but be cooked through, otherwise known as al dente.

    Even if it is more mushy or soft you still get a lot of flavor. If you prefer this texture, then definitely use the lid method mentioned in the base toot!

    I say cooked correctly because this is my recipe but there is no correctness in what tastes best to you or your dining companions.
