    looking at a reddit thread on r/AskUK asking if anyone knows any real life 'hyacinth buckets' and dear lord I hope this is true because its f*cking hilarious

    reply to a post on reddit reading as such: 
"My mother in law ‘can taste Tesco’ as she proudly told me at a family do where I presented cheese quiche (she also doesn’t do barbecue meat so she had to have a lighter option with boiled new potatoes) and she was debating whether it was from Waitrose or M&S because of the length of the strands of caramelised onion. (It was actually Tesco Finest as I was pushing the boat out trying to impress!)

It was early in my relationship with my now husband so I limited my reaction to a slight gape and some side eye but it’s become sport now.

Last Christmas a great chunk of our Boxing Day spread she attended came from Lidl. Turns out she can’t taste that!"
