For 2025 I think we should just ignore every "AI did this thing" report that does not explicitly state the resource cost (energy/CO2 for training and inference, hardware requirements/e-waste). We just cannot afford burning the planet for technological parlor tricks.
Agree. Every parlour trick 'AI did this thing' should include the external costs so that the total costs (& benefits, if any) can be compared.

@tante Need to compare the climate impact of AI to a 4 hour flight on a commercial jet and an Elon Musk jet flight from CA to Florida.
@tante Can't speak for US consumers, but in EU (and UK), make it mandatory for every GenAI image to report, in your words, "energy/CO2 for training and inference, hardware requirements/e-waste".
Then when someone posts the inevitable AI pic, that info should be coded into the metadata and alt-txt.
