On getting stuff done - the context is talking about young people swanning in with computers, copying files, and making things better without permission.

(just another footnote to say this is about doing things in a work context, to improve the situation - in social situations you must always ask first)

@sarajw Ah, the „ask for forgiveness not for permission“ part! Like it.

(I have no idea who she is)

@sarajw @ada There's a climate strike taking place today, but I am going to another day.

Heard so much good things from her (as in: text).

I'm wondering now: if 2D flow charts won't cut it (and we cannot all get chemistry sets), would one in A-Frame, i.e. VR, do it?

I get the idea, but this clashes with our efforts to hammer down "consent" in young (and not so young) males thick skull.

@axnxcamr @andre well, this is true. I mean there are obviously levels of "getting stuff done" - you can't just apologise for other kinds of violence either..

"Never say no" can also turn into toxic positivity. I've had too many times with non-technical managers who use "never say no" to avoid necessary conversations about refining grossly unrealistic proposals

@StormyDragon
"Never say no" is usually promoted from the top down, as management believes requests should be accepted by default in that direction but not necessarily the other way around.
Not what I had in mind, but a very good example of a "rule" that could be misunderstood and misused.

@sarajw “I long ago discovered that the best way to get something done was to do it” just knocked me right over. That humility and pragmatism stirs me little heart. (And reminds me to ... you know ... do the thing.)
