    SOTD: 18 Feb 2024: "Bleed the Freak” by Alice in Chains - Listen, I could choose any of about 20 AiC songs. Dirt, Sap, Jar of Flies - all sensational, but their debut, Facelift, is pretty awesome. I was lucky to see them live in 1991, at the time I was obsessed with Man in the Box and this song, Bleed the Freak, which is classic AiC - a slow, building verse with those eerie Layne and Jerry harmonies, followed by a rockin' power chorus. Check it out.

    SOTD: 19 Feb 2024: "Commissioning a Symphony in C" by CAKE - For a few years in the early aughts, I was super into CAKE. Sadly, their star didn't continue to shine as bright, but it should have, they really had many styles of songwriting. The Comfort Eagle LP is filled with great songs - Opera Singer, Meanwhile Rick James, Love You Madly, and one of their biggest hits, Short Skirt/Long Jacket.     SOTD: 20 Feb 2024: "Bury Me” by The Smashing Pumpkins - The Pumpkins are part of an elite group who have two perfect albums - Gish and Siamese Dream. While Rhinoceros is the song most remembered - for the right reasons - it's actually packed with killer tunes, a masterful debut. Bury Me is high-energy call-and-response, the track 4 to Rhino's track 3, coasting into some slower songs before blasting back with Side B's Tristessa.
