(side-effective of growing up poor, I guess. Took me a full day to introspect why I feel this way about a work-related purchase. Can‘t ever turn the “save a penny” voice off, even in cases where it doesn’t make sense)

Throttling, heat, and noise are all a given. If not now, then a few years later when software degrades a bit further. Recently bought a desktop instead, and it’s now obvious it’s what I needed all this time. (Your mileage may wary, of course!)

@jonikorpi I'm with you on the downside of laptops. Unfortunately, I'm fairly locked into the Mac ecosystem for web+ML, and desktop macs are perenially worse than their laptop counterparts...

@swiftcoder Well what I got is a refurb base model Mac Studio. It’s so far the best computer I’ve ever had. It replaced an Intel 16” MBP, which was the worst. :D
Only downside so far: no Apple Pay or Touch ID unless I get Apple’s keyboard.

@jonikorpi I'm running that same 16" Intel MBP at present 😅 It looks like specificly a Spain problem, but over here the Mac Studio is not at all price competive with newer MBPs (even not accounting for the lack display)
