Our house was built in 1927.

I sent a document request to King County records for historical photos. They sent me an assessment from 1937 and it’s amazing.

Rent / month: $30
Future life: 36 years

It was only 10 years old and they called it “medium old”. They thought it’d be torn down by 1973.

I'd never had a WhatsApp account and I cannot believe people put up with this.

As a member of my kid's middle school PTSA, I'm working to create a social presence for the organization here on Mastodon as an alternative to every other walled-garden communication channel they use.

In order to do this, I've had to actually create a WhatsApp account ⚰️ so I have access to the announcements in order to mirror them.

Very cool render of the upcoming West Seattle light rail line.

I'm so glad they scrapped the super-deep Junction station design; that would have been a momentous generational mistake, and the city would have paid for it for the next hundred years.

Also glad they avoided the surface-level tracks that involved demolishing entire neighborhoods of housing; raised track + shallow tunnel leaves it grade-separated over the entire run.

Anyway, mistakes avoided, the final route and design makes a ton of sense to someone who lives in the area. Let's go, get building!
